Sometimes to improve the appearance of the breast has very little to do with the breast and everything to do with the nipple and or areola. Nipples may appear too long or large in comparison to the breast, and even droopy. Alternatively, nipples may be tethered by the lactiferous ducts and become inverted. Areolar reduction is actually part of a circumareoloar-periareolar “Donut” breast lift, and can be performed either with or without implants. When performed as a skin only procedure, the recovery is very rapid with minimal pain or discomfort; and the incisions heal beautifully around the areola. Inverted nipple repair is a more technically demanding procedure that can further help a woman feel more confident about the appearance of her breast.
